Well, we've been in our new duplex for a month now, so I guess it's about time I post some pictures!
We got most of the unpacking done pretty fast, but the last bits (mostly the pictures we had on the walls) took forever to get up. Our walls are plaster, so it's harder to hang stuff on them. Also, I just couldn't decide how to decorate and where to put stuff. It also took me a while to acquire the needed furniture. We left our dresser and dining table/chairs for our subletter (to sweeten the deal), plus we have a lot more space now than we used to and needed a couple of extra pieces.I scoured craigslist for a while, and scored the following:
A glider rocker for $20
dresser for $10
dining table and 4 chairs $50 (these are MUCH nicer than our old ones!!)
tv $25 (I bought a small one to put downstairs in the basement to use for aerobics videos so I
can exercise down there).
piano $100 (yay! We own a piano!)
(I also bought a bookcase for $19 at Walmart.)
I was pretty proud of myself for finding some pretty sweet deals on the furniture. (I did end up buying an area rug at Target for full price, though...but it's a lot harder to get a rug you like for a good deal...)
I also had to buy new curtains for
several windows. I bought some on
clearance, some on ebay, and I actually sewed the kitchen curtains myself
out of an old tablecloth. And I ALSO sewed some new covers for the couch cushions so they matched the new curtains in
the living room.
Aren't I domestic? Wow, I
impress myself. ( I won't tell you how long it took me to thread the sewing machine I borrowed from a friend.)

We feel so blessed to have so much space! We're really really enjoying it so far. SO definitely worth it, even though the move was a lot of work! How could we ever go back to an apartment again?
